The Cubs and Pirates would like to announce a trade....
PIT Receives Delino DeShields, OF, TEX 1.4 ST, TC YR2, $1.04M
CHC Receives Ken Giles, RP, HOU 2.4 ST, TC YR3, $1.06M
The Pirates did the deal because they are looking to add some position depth. We now have a couple of guys who can play some different OF positions. We think that eventually he will hit and his speed will win out to get him an every day job.
Ken Giles has been really good for us but with so many good relievers in HOU his chances just don't occur often enough. He doesn't get used often enough in non-save situations to really find that K-upside that he has. Hopefully Jeurys will be back by the end of the month if not we can wait to the off-season to address the bullpen situation.

Agreed, thanks for the deal. My team is pretty deep in the OF and could use a little extra help in the pen. Giles is a good closer for the best team in baseball so he should be a reliable source of points from one of my RP slots for years to come.
