Tigers trade Luis Severino 1.04/17 2.08/18 arb1/19
Cubs trade Frances Martes .5/17 1/18 2/19 arb1/20 Matt Manning .2 minors James Kaprielian .2 minors Jose Azocar .2 minors Austin Riley .2 minors
Tigers agree. It's hard to part ways with Severino, but this was too much talent to pass on. Martes takes Severino's roster spot, and I have time to wait out his initial struggles. Very happy to make this deal, and wish Chicago the best of luck in that meat grinder of a division 😁

Another huge trade for the Cubs. The price was steep having to give up a top 15 prospect, 2 top 70ish prospects and still 2 more good prospects outside the top 100. But Severino is just 23, cheap and controllable. So he can help my teams chances during this NL Central dog fight for the playoffs, while still being a big part of my rotation for future seasons as well. Thanks to the Tigers for the trade!
Also I don't have access to the spreadsheet from my phone, but I'm pretty sure Severino's contract is $0.55 for 2017? So the full contract would be $0.55/'17 $1.1/'18 with 3 more arb years? I'll double check later from my computer.
